Hallelujah!!! Tatum ripped out her feeding tube again last night, just as I suspected and they left it out! We are beyond thrilled!!! This means that as long as she continues to feed well on her bottles, she will probably get to come home on Monday! Dr. Patel said that as long as she's eating just fine for 48 hours, she will be cleared to leave. We cannot believe we have finally made it into the home stretch. It is so great to finally see her free of all her tubes, etc. and just have her free. She still has the pulse oximetry on her foot and the probes on her chest but no tubes to feed or help her breathe! We have prayed and prayed for this day and feel so blessed it's finally here! Deb came up to the hospital today to see Tatum, eat lunch with us and she brought us tons of preemie clothes! She is so incredibly sweet and generous to us. She went out and bought Tatum a ton of preemie clothes because all of her newborn clothes will be too big. She bought the cutest stuff for her and we are so grateful for her generosity.

Today the nurses allowed me to attempt to breastfeed Tatum. It didn't go very well. She wouldn't latch on and she became very agitated and I became very flustered and feel like such a failure. All I wanted to be able to do was breastfeed my baby and the fact that she's already 9 days old and now we're tying is practically impossible. I will keep trying but I am very disappointed that we're both not getting it. On a more positive note, we are so excited that we will bring our baby girl home in just a couple of days!!
