Imagine my surprise when I came into the hospital today and this is what I saw…

Tatum is officially off of her oxygen nasal cannula!!! Hooray!!! Our prayers have been answered!! Apparently at some point in the night, Tatum ripped out her cannula and her oxygen saturation levels were great so they determined she could go without it now! My little rebel child, I love it! I'm sure I won't love it when she's a teenager but I love it now. :) Dr. Patel said as long as her levels remain where they are, her cannula will stay out. Now we just need her feeding tube to come out. She is tolerating her bottle feedings better and better everyday. I'm finally getting more milk in and actually get a lot more pumped out when I sit at her bedside. It's such a strange thing. I guess the body knows my baby in near and it triggers the stimulation of the milk to come down. The body is such a miraculous thing and so intricate how it all works together. It is truly amazing!

Tatum had her hearing screening done today and passed with flying colors. Thank God for great hearing! It's something we take for granted sometimes so it's great to find out she has perfect hearing. She also had her first screening done by her physical therapist and she passed all those assessments too. I'm so happy that she seems to be developmentally on track even though she is a preemie.

Tatum was upgraded to a real crib today also. Everyday they take away some of the support pillows, etc. to get her ready for life at home with none of that stuff in her crib. They now moved her into a crib to get her accustomed to sleeping in a crib when she gets home too. In the evening, they moved her into another pod further down the row in the NICU because she is doing so much better. The pod that she was in is for babies who are new to the NICU and need constant care. Since she is doing so much better they can let her move down. It's sort of a graduation. :)
