Today Tatum is one week old!! I can't believe that she has been in the world for one week already. The days have really flown by. It's amazing how fast the day goes by. I get to the hospital in the morning and all I do is pump every 3 hours, do Tatum's care when she wakes up (usually every 3 hours), feed her, etc. and then I pump, try and get something to eat in between, take care of Tatum again, repeat…:) It will go the same way when we get to take her home too I am sure. I wouldn't have it any other way though.
I had to go see Dr. Castilla today for my one week post-op appointment. She took my bandage off my incision and talked to me about taking care of myself and post partum depression. She said that I have a higher chance of getting it because of my c section and having a premature baby. I really hope it doesn't become an issue. So far I feel okay but she said it can happen after a few weeks. My incision looks great and is healing nicely. I'm still pretty sore from the surgery and can't believe how much my body still feels like it was ran over by a car. I knew it was a major surgery but I just didn't realize how major it was. My incision is still numb and still hurts a lot. My entire abdomen is so sore. It still hurts to get up, laugh, really anything. You just don't realize how much you use your abdominal muscles until you have them cut through. I hope I feel physically better soon.
Dr. Patel has told us that as soon as Tatum rips out her feeding tube, they will leave it out and see how she does. They have allowed her to let them know when she is ready to move forward. She has done it every step of the way so far so we will see when she makes that next step. I cannot wait!
